The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) was first published in 2017. The Shanghai Ranking System has released the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) for the seventh consecutive year in 2023. This ranking was conducted in 2023 in 55 disciplines in 5 general fields: engineering, natural sciences, biological sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences. There are 42 universities from the Islamic Republic of Iran in this ranking, and Amirkabir University and Tehran University of Technology achieved the best rankings. In the field of “Textile Science and Engineering”, Amirkabir University of Technology ranked 15th in the world, behind 11 universities from China, one American university, one Saudi university, and one Pakistani university.
